Hammersmith Organ Donation
On 16th April, the National President, Paul Briers KHCS, was delighted to present a cheque on behalf of the Guild of St Stephen for £1,000 to Sacred Heart High School, Hammersmith, in support of their fundraising campaign to restore the historic Loret Organ in the school chapel.

This remarkable instrument has a unique and courageous history. Originally housed in the Society of the Sacred Heart’s main convent in Paris, it was dismantled by the sisters in 1904 and secretly transported across the Channel to Hammersmith, where it was reassembled to prevent its seizure by the French authorities.

The chapel at Sacred Heart High School also holds a special place in the Guild’s own history, as it was the location where Fr Hamilton MacDonald started what would become the Guild of St Stephen in 1901.
